Blackburn 32015 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What conductor size does the Blackburn 32015 Lock-Tite lug take?
The 32015 is sized for 300 to 500 kcmil conductor. If your feeder is smaller than 300 kcmil, this barrel will not grip it properly and you need a lug catalogued for that smaller range instead.
2) Will the Blackburn 32015 lug bolt to a 3/8 inch drilled bus bar or ground bar?
Yes. It is a two-hole tongue drilled for 3/8 inch bolts, so it lands on any pad, bus bar or ground bar with matching 3/8 inch hardware. Two-hole is what most utility and switchgear specs call for because it keeps the lug from rotating under fault current. Mounting bolts, nuts and washers are supplied separately.
3) Is the Blackburn 32015 lug copper or aluminum, and can I use it on aluminum conductor?
The body is copper, so it is intended for copper conductor terminations. For aluminum or dual-rated runs you want a lug listed AL9CU rather than a straight copper connector.
4) Is the Blackburn 32015 a mechanical set-screw lug or a compression lug?
Mechanical. The Lock-Tite 32015 clamps the conductor with set screws, so it installs with a hex key or torque wrench and needs no hydraulic crimper or die set. That is the practical reason crews carry these for field terminations and service changes where a compression tool is not on the truck.
5) Is the Blackburn 32015 sold individually or in a pack?
It is sold each, so on a three-phase plus neutral termination you would order four, and count one per conductor landed.
