The 25091 MegaPressG coupling joins 1-1/2 inch to 1-1/2 inch black iron or carbon steel pipe, press on both ends (P1 x P2). It is a straight coupling, so both sides take the same 1-1/2 inch nominal pipe.

No stop means there is no internal shoulder in the middle of the fitting, so the coupling can slide freely along the pipe. That is what you want on a repair or a tie-in where both pipe ends are already fixed and you cannot spring them apart: slide the coupling fully onto one side, bring the pipes together, then slide it back to center and press both ends. A standard coupling with a stop bottoms out on each pipe end and is the better choice on new work, because the stop sets insertion depth for you. With the no-stop version you have to mark your insertion depth yourself on both sides before pressing.

The MegaPressG line, which the 25091 belongs to, is the gas-rated branch of Viega's carbon steel press system. The plain MegaPress fittings are the ones used for water, hydronic, and compressed air service. If you are pressing black iron gas pipe, the G fittings are the ones to order; they are not interchangeable with the non-G version on a gas line.

Smart Connect is a small feature in the sealing element area that lets an unpressed fitting leak visibly during pressure testing, so an installer can find a connection that was missed before the system is closed in. It does not change the press procedure: you still cut square, deburr, mark insertion depth, and press with the correct jaw for 1-1/2 inch MegaPressG. It is a verification aid during test, not a substitute for pressing.

Press-only on both ends, so the pipe has to be clean, round, plain end. Cut off any threads, deburr, and make sure the pressing area is free of weld seam distortion, dents, and heavy scale. If you need to transition to an existing threaded nipple or a valve, you need a press x FPT or press x MPT adapter rather than this coupling.

Carbon steel body, which is the same base metal family as black iron pipe, so there is no dissimilar-metal issue at the joint the way there would be pressing a copper or stainless fitting onto steel. Keep the carbon steel system to carbon steel fittings; where you have to join to copper or stainless, use a purpose-made dielectric or transition fitting.
