1) What connections does the Viega MegaPressG 25631 adapter have?
The MegaPressG 25631 is a P x FPT adapter: one press end that crimps onto 2 inch carbon steel pipe, and a 3/4 inch female pipe thread outlet. So the press side goes on the pipe run and the threaded side takes a male NPT nipple, valve, or gauge.
2) Can I thread the MegaPressG 25631 onto pipe on both ends?
No. Only the 3/4 inch side is threaded. The 2 inch end is a press connection and has to be crimped with a press tool and the correct MegaPress jaw or ring for 2 inch carbon steel. If you need threads on both ends, this is the wrong fitting.
3) What material is the Viega 25631 MegaPressG fitting, and what pipe does it go on?
Carbon steel. It presses onto black iron / carbon steel pipe, not copper and not stainless. Use a copper press or stainless press fitting line for those materials.
