No. The 26540 is carbon steel, which is the MegaPress material for non-potable services such as hydronic heating, chilled water, compressed air, and fire protection where the spec allows black steel. Potable water calls for a copper or stainless press system instead.
2) Why use a 45 degree elbow instead of two 90s on a 4 inch carbon steel line?
A 45 lets you offset around an obstruction or swing a run gradually instead of turning it square twice. On a 4 inch main that matters for friction loss and for the physical space two 90s would eat up. The 26540 gives you that 45 degree turn with press ends on both sides, so each joint is one press rather than a weld.
3) What does Smart Connect mean on a MegaPress fitting, and do I still have to press every joint?
