The 26605 MegaPress tee is a 4 inch x 4 inch x 1-1/2 inch reducing tee, so the run is 4 inch on both ends with a 1-1/2 inch branch outlet. All three ends are press connections (P1 x P2 x P3), so no threading or welding at any of the three joints.

Carbon steel. The 26605 MegaPress tee is built for black iron and carbon steel pipe systems, not for copper or stainless runs. If your line is stainless, you need a stainless press fitting instead, since mixing the two materials at a joint invites galvanic corrosion.

That is exactly what the 26605 is for. It replaces a welded or threaded 4 inch x 4 inch x 1-1/2 inch branch with three cold press joints, so there is no hot work permit, no torch and no thread cutting on a 4 inch line. You do need the matching press tool and the correct 4 inch and 1-1/2 inch jaws or rings, which are separate from the fitting.

Smart Connect is the feature designed into the MegaPress sealing element that lets an unpressed connection be spotted during pressure testing, so a joint you missed shows itself instead of leaking later behind a wall or above a ceiling. On a job with dozens of 4 inch joints, that is the difference between finding a miss at test and finding it after the drywall is up.

Plan clearance for the press tool jaw or chain around each of the three press ends on top of those body dimensions, which is usually the limiting factor in a tight joist bay or a crowded mechanical room rather than the fitting itself.
