Mustee 748-32WHT 32" x 48" DURAWALL® Rectangular Shower Wall - White

That's exactly the opening it's built for. The 748-32WHT rectangular shower wall is sized 32 inches deep by 48 inches wide, so it sets on a 32 x 48 base of the same footprint. Overall height is 73-1/4 inches, which is the number to check against your ceiling and against the top of your existing base or receptor before you order.

Bare studs. The 748-32WHT is a direct-to-stud wall kit, so the old surround, tile and wallboard come off and the panels fasten to the framing itself. Budget the demo into the job. If you need a surround that goes over sound existing walls, a direct-to-stud kit is the wrong choice.

It's a 3-piece surround, which is the practical part for remodel work: three panels go through a standard door and up a stairwell where a one-piece unit will not. A one-piece is generally reserved for new construction where you can set it before the walls close in.

The 748-32WHT is the wall kit only, three panels 73-1/4 inches high covering a 32 by 48 inch enclosure. The receptor or pan is a separate order, and it has to match that 32 x 48 footprint for the panels to land correctly on its flange.

Three shelves are molded into the panels, so there's nothing to add and nothing to caulk on later. For property managers that matters more than it sounds: a molded shelf can't be pulled off the wall by a tenant and leaves no fastener hole behind.

Fiberglass. It cleans up with non-abrasive cleaners and the white color runs through a finished gel surface rather than being a coating on a thin plastic liner. For multi-family turns, a fiberglass direct-to-stud surround is the usual replacement for a failed tile wall because the wall goes in as three sealed panels rather than hundreds of grout joints.

White, model 748-32WHT. That's the finish to specify when you're standardizing bathrooms across a building and want the surrounds to match the fixtures already in place.
