ASC Engineered Solutions 3/4 GALV MI CROSS

All four outlets are 3/4 inch female pipe thread (FPT), so it's a straight run-and-branch cross with no reducing outlet. Threads are cut to ASME B1.20.1, the NPT standard, so it mates with standard 3/4 inch threaded steel or galvanized pipe and with 3/4 inch MPT nipples.

The galvanized finish here is hot-dip to ASTM A-153, which is the coating spec for wet service, damp mechanical rooms, and exposed exterior piping where black malleable iron would rust. Black iron fittings are the choice for dry gas and dry-pipe work; for water-filled or humid runs, the galvanized cross is the correct one.

It's standard weight (STD), not extra heavy. Standard-pattern malleable iron threaded fittings to ASME B16.3 are the Class 150 line, which covers ordinary plumbing, compressed air, and sprinkler branch piping. If your drawing calls out Class 300 extra-heavy, this is not the fitting.

A cross gives you two opposed branch outlets at a single point, so it replaces a pair of back-to-back tees and a nipple, and it keeps both branches on the same centerline. That matters on sprinkler drops and on gas or air headers where you want takeoffs directly across from each other. Use tees instead when the branches have to be offset along the run, since all four legs here are fixed 3/4 inch FPT on one body.

Malleable iron to ASTM A-197. That's the ferrous casting spec MRO and institutional buyers usually need on submittals for threaded fittings, alongside ASME B16.3 for the dimensions and ASME B1.20.1 for the threads.

Threaded only. The cross has four female NPT openings cut to ASME B1.20.1 and relies on a tapered thread joint, so it needs pipe joint compound or PTFE tape on the male pipe ends. Nothing is supplied with the fitting and no gaskets are involved.
