Thomas & Betts 5351SST6 3/8 90 DEG 316 SS LT FITTING

The 5351SST6 is a 3/8 inch fitting, so it terminates 3/8 inch liquidtight flexible metal conduit. It is a 90 degree elbow style, which is what you want when the conduit has to turn hard into a box or enclosure without a sweeping bend.

It is built from 316 stainless steel with a Duraplated ground cone, which is the grade specified for marine, coastal and chemical washdown environments where standard steel or zinc die cast fittings corrode. That material choice is the main reason to pick this over a plain zinc liquidtight elbow.

The 5351SST6 includes a Duraplated ground cone, which bites the conduit's metal core to carry ground through the fitting. Where your installation requires an equipment grounding conductor run inside the liquidtight, that conductor is still pulled and terminated as usual.

Use the 90 degree fitting, like the 5351SST6, when the conduit has to make an immediate turn at the box and there is no room for the conduit's own bend radius, typically at motor connections, disconnects and tight equipment pockets. A straight fitting is the choice when you have space to sweep the flex into the enclosure, since it adds one less fitting and keeps the pull easier.

This is a liquidtight fitting for flexible metallic conduit at 3/8 inch trade size. It seals against the jacket of liquidtight flexible metal conduit. For plain FMC with no jacket, use a fitting made for FMC instead, since the sealing gland here is meant to grip a jacketed conduit.

It has a bare metallic finish, which is the natural look of the 316 stainless body rather than a paint or plating layer. On stainless enclosures and food plant racks it blends with the surrounding hardware.
