The EC-2 cold shrink end cap covers cable or pipe ends from 0.63 to 1.18 inches (15.9 to 30.1 mm) in diameter. The 1.18 in (30.1 mm) figure is the inner diameter before shrink, so anything larger than that will not load over the end; the 0.63 in (15.9 mm) recovered diameter is the smallest it will grip down onto. Measure over the cable jacket, including any tape buildup, before choosing the size.

No heat at all. The EC-2 is a cold shrink product: the EPDM sleeve is pre-stretched over a removable plastic core, you slide it into position and unwind the core, and the rubber contracts onto the cable on its own. No torch, no heat gun, no tools. That is the main reason crews use cold shrink instead of heat shrink in trenches, vaults, and anywhere a flame is not allowed.

That is one of its normal uses. The EC-2 is a close-ended tubular sleeve, so it seals the cut end completely rather than just wrapping it. The EPDM rubber resists water, alkalis, acids, abrasion and ozone, which is what keeps moisture out of the conductor while the reel or the pulled-in run sits before termination. It also gives the exposed end some physical protection during handling.
