1) What conductor sizes does the 3M SC0001 stem connector take?
The SC0001 accepts 2 to 1 AWG stranded conductors, or 1 to 1/0 AWG solid. If your cable falls outside that range the crimp won't be sound, so size the conductor first before ordering.

6) Is a stem connector the right choice, or should I be using a two-hole lug?
Different jobs. A stem connector like the SC0001 has no bolt holes at all (zero-hole design) because the tin-plated copper stem is meant to be tapped into an overhead aerial line. If you're bolting to a transformer pad, bus, or switchgear stud, you want a drilled one- or two-hole compression lug instead.
7) Can the 3M SC0001 be installed outdoors on an overhead riser pole?
Yes, it's rated for indoor and outdoor use, which is what the aerial riser application requires. The sealed factory stem crimp and the antioxidant paste in the barrel are what keep moisture out of the connection.
