1) Can the Columbia LXEN vapor tight fixture be used in a walk-in cooler or food prep area?
The LXEN is UL Sanitation Certified to the NSF 2 Food Equipment standard for non-food zones, so it is suitable for back-of-house kitchen and food facility spaces that are not directly over exposed food. The pour-in-place non-porous gasketing seals the enclosure and it carries IP65 and IP67 ingress protection as standard, which is what lets it take washdown and high-humidity conditions. It is also Wet Location rated.
2) Will the LXEN fit in a tight ceiling space between ductwork and pipe?
That is what the LXEN is built for. It is a narrow body vapor tight, intended for applications where space is limited, and it is catalogued as a narrow wraparound LED. Typical uses are storage rooms, utility areas, corridors and back-of-house spaces where a full-width vapor tight will not clear the obstructions.
3) What voltage does the Columbia LXEN run on, and does it need a separate driver for each voltage?
The LXEN takes 120-277V, so the same fixture covers 120V, 208V, 240V and 277V branch circuits. For a property manager standardizing across buildings with mixed service, that means one part number instead of separate stock for 120 and 277.
4) Can I hard-pipe the LXEN with EMT?
No. The LXEN is for use with flexible conduit only. Access openings are provided in the housing for the electrical connection, but rigid or EMT runs need to transition to flex at the fixture, otherwise you risk breaking the gasket seal that gives it its IP65/IP67 rating.
5) Does the Columbia LXEN work with a 0-10V dimming system or occupancy sensors?
Yes, 0-10V continuous dimming is one of the driver options. The other is fixed output, straight on/off, so you have to specify which one you want at order. If the job calls for dimming or sensor control, the fixed output driver will not do it.
6) How do I get emergency egress lighting out of the LXEN?
Two routes. The LXEN is CSA certified to UL 924 with either an integral battery pack or a DTS Dimming Bypass Module. The DTS option also supports emergency circuit control loads including sensors and wireless systems, so it works where the building has a generator or central inverter backing the emergency circuit rather than per-fixture batteries. Either one has to be specified when you order.
7) What lumen package should I order for a 4 foot LXEN in a corridor versus a warehouse aisle?
Output runs 3,100, 4,000, 4,900, 6,000 and 6,500 lumens depending on model, with efficacy up to 143 lumens per watt. Lower packages suit corridors and storage rooms where you are covering a low ceiling; the higher packages are for taller utility spaces or wider spacing between runs. Color temperature is selectable at 3500K, 4000K or 5000K, all at 80+ CRI.
