1) Is the Columbia CVT vaportite rated for washdown or wet areas like a parking garage or food plant?
The CVT linear vaportite is built to UL 1598 wet location standards with an IP65 rating and is also NEMA 250 Type 4X rated, so it handles dust and water jets in parking garages, stairwells, utility areas and canopies. Its stainless steel latches meet NSF criteria and the fixture meets NSF 2 Food Equipment standards for non-food and splash zones, which is what lets it go into a food processing space outside the direct food zone.
2) Do I have to order a separate part number to get 4000K instead of 5000K on the Columbia CVT?
No. Colour temperature is field-selectable between 3500K, 4000K and 5000K using a three-level switch on the gear tray, so one part number covers all three. Fixtures ship preset to 5000K at the highest lumen setting, which means anything else is a quick switch flip at install, not a different order.
3) What mounting hardware comes with the Columbia CVT vaportite, and what do I still need to buy?
Both mounting kits are in the carton: a pair of surface mount brackets and a pair of V brackets for suspended mounting. What is not included is the cable or chain for the suspended drop, so order that separately if you are hanging it. Surface, suspended and pendant are all supported mounting methods.
4) Can I use one Columbia CVT vaportite for both a low stairwell and a high garage bay?
Yes, within the switchable range. The CVT carries Switchable Lumen technology alongside switchable CCT, both set by three-level switches on the gear tray, so the same fixture can be dialled down for a stairwell and run at its top setting in a garage bay. It arrives set to its highest lumen output, so the installer only touches the switch on the lower-output openings.
5) Will the Columbia CVT vaportite dim on my existing 0-10V control system?
It dims 0-10V down to 10 percent, so it drops onto a standard 0-10V dimming control or occupancy sensor with a 0-10V output. It will not go to zero, so if a space needs full dim-to-dark or a line-voltage phase dimmer, this is not the fixture for it.
6) How long before the Columbia CVT vaportite needs relamping?
There is nothing to relamp. The LEDs are rated L70 greater than 100,000 hours, meaning they still produce at least 70 percent of initial output at that point. The fixture is tested to LM79, LM80 and TM21 industry standards, which is the basis for that rating, and it is DLC Qualified for utility rebate programs.
7) Is the lens on the Columbia CVT clear or diffused, and will it survive a knock in a garage?
Diffused, frosted polycarbonate. It spreads the light rather than showing the diodes, and polycarbonate is high-impact, which matters in a parking garage or loading area where a lens can take a hit from equipment.
8) Is 80 CRI good enough for a warehouse or stairwell?
The CVT vaportite delivers 80+ CRI, which is the normal commercial spec for parking garages, stairwells, utility spaces and canopies where colour rendering is about safety and legibility rather than merchandise appearance. For retail display or paint matching you would want a higher CRI fixture instead.
