Metallics PCC400B – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What size conduit does the Metallics PCC400B cap fit?
The Metallics PCC400B is a 4 inch PVC pipe coupling cap. It pushes onto the end of 4 inch PVC, so it suits 4 inch conduit stub-ups and spare raceway ends. For any other trade size you need a different cap; this one is 4 inch only.
2) Does the PCC400B cap glue on or push on?
Push-on. The PCC400B seats over the pipe end by hand with no solvent cement, which is why it is used as a temporary closure on stubbed conduit during construction rather than as a permanent glued cap.
3) Can I use the PCC400B to keep dirt and water out of stubbed-up 4 inch conduit before pulling wire?
That is the normal use for it. The 4 inch push-on coupling cap covers an open PVC conduit end so debris and water stay out until the raceway is ready to be pulled, then it pulls back off without cutting or heating the pipe.
4) What is the Metallics part number for a 4 inch push-on PVC conduit cap?
PCC400B is the Metallics designation for the 4 inch PVC pipe coupling cap, push type. Order by that number to avoid getting a glue-on cap or a smaller trade size.
