Metallics SCR0400 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What size and type of conduit does the Metallics SCR0400 strut clamp hold?
The SCR0400 is a 4 inch rigid conduit strut clamp. It is sized for 4 inch rigid metal conduit and mounts to strut channel, so it is the clamp you order for securing a 4 inch rigid run to a strut support rather than directly to a wall or deck.
2) Is the Metallics SCR0400 conduit clamp galvanized?
Yes. The SCR0400 carries the EG designation, meaning an electrogalvanized zinc finish. That is a dry-location, indoor-type coating, so for outdoor or wet corrosive runs a hot-dip galvanized or stainless strut clamp is the better pick.
3) Do I need to buy strut channel separately for the SCR0400 clamp?
Yes. The SCR0400 is the clamp only, a 4 inch rigid strut clamp. The strut channel, channel nuts, and mounting hardware for the strut itself are separate line items, so plan the run with the channel and anchors ordered alongside the clamps.
4) Will a strut clamp work for 4 inch EMT instead of rigid conduit?
The SCR0400 is specified for 4 inch rigid conduit. Rigid and EMT have different outside diameters at the same trade size, so for an EMT run order an EMT-specific strut clamp in the matching trade size instead of this rigid clamp.
