No, and they are not interchangeable. The 41744 closes a copper crimp ring around PEX over an insert fitting, which is the PureFlow crimp method. Viega's press systems use a stainless sleeve and a powered press tool with system-specific jaws instead. If the fittings on your job are press style, this hand tool will not make that connection, and if they are crimp ring style, a press jaw will not either. Match the tool to the fitting family you bought.
2) Will a 3/4 inch PureFlow crimp tool work in a stud bay or tight joist space?
Overall the tool measures 12 x 3.8 x 1.2 inches, so plan on roughly a foot of handle swing to close a crimp ring. In a 16 inch on center stud bay that is workable if you can come at the fitting from the face of the bay, but crimping hard against a joist or in a cabinet back is where the handle length bites. Crimp the ring before you push the pipe tight into place where you can.
3) Do I need a separate go/no-go gauge, or does the 41744 tool check the crimp itself?
The 41744 is the crimping tool only. Verifying a finished 3/4 inch crimp ring is done with the matching Viega PureFlow go/no-go gauge, which is a separate item, and most inspectors want to see one on the job. Order the gauge alongside the tool if you do not already carry one.
