1) Will the Spears 816-060 elbow connect to 6 inch Schedule 80 PVC pipe without adapters?
Yes. The 816-060 is a 6 inch nominal fitting with socket (SOC) ends on both sides, so it solvent-welds straight onto 6 inch Schedule 80 PVC pipe. No threading, no adapters, no gaskets. You cut the pipe square, deburr, prime and cement, and the joint is permanent. If your run is threaded on one end, you would need a separate transition fitting because both ends here are socket.
2) When should I use a 22-1/2 degree PVC elbow instead of a 45 or 90?
Use the 22-1/2 degree bend when you need a shallow course correction in a run, for example easing a large-diameter line around an obstruction or matching a slight grade change, without the turbulence and pressure loss a sharper fitting introduces. Two of them stacked give you a 45. If you need a hard turn at a wall or into a riser, a 45 or 90 elbow is the right fitting instead. The Spears 816-060 covers only the 22-1/2 degree case in 6 inch.

4) Is a gray PVC Schedule 80 elbow suitable for chemical transfer and wastewater lines?
The 816-060 is rigid PVC, which resists corrosion, rust and chemical attack, and it is used on chemical transfer and wastewater handling lines as well as general industrial process piping. PVC has temperature limits that CPVC does not, so for hot process fluid a CPVC fitting is the better call. For ambient and cool-water chemical service, PVC Schedule 80 is the normal choice.
5) Can this elbow be taken apart later if the layout changes?
No. Socket ends mean a solvent-welded joint, which is permanent. Once the cement sets you are cutting the fitting out to change it. If you need a serviceable break in a 6 inch Schedule 80 run, plan a union or a flanged connection at that point instead of relying on the elbow.
