Viega V90040 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the Viega 90040 MegaPress elbow stainless or carbon steel?
It is 316 stainless steel, not carbon. That is the corrosion-resistant grade, so it suits applications where a carbon steel press fitting would be marginal. Keep the system material consistent across the run.
2) Will a 1 inch MegaPress street elbow fit in a tight ceiling or wall cavity?
Dimensions on the 90040 are 1.78 inch, 4.276 inch and 3.819 inch across its three axes, and it weighs 0.8 lbs. Measure your cavity against the 4.276 inch figure before committing, and leave room for the press tool jaw to seat squarely on the socket.
3) Does the Viega 90040 have the Smart Connect feature, and what does it do for inspection?
Yes, the 90040 MegaPress street elbow is built with Smart Connect technology. It is the feature that lets an unpressed connection show itself during pressure testing, so a missed joint gets found before the walls close up.
