Viega 90330 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What size pipe does the Viega MegaPress 90330 coupling press onto?
The 90330 MegaPress coupling is a 2 inch by 2 inch fitting, with press connections on both ends (P1 x P2). It joins two runs of 2 inch pipe in line.
2) Is the Viega 90330 a stop coupling or a no-stop coupling?
It is a no-stop coupling. Without an internal pipe stop, the fitting can slide along the pipe, which is what you want for repair work and tie-ins where you cannot pull the pipe apart to insert a stop coupling. On a straight new run, a coupling with a stop is easier to set depth on.
3) Why choose a 316 stainless MegaPress coupling instead of a carbon steel one?
The 90330 is made from 316 stainless steel, so it is the version to use where the pipe or environment would attack carbon steel, including corrosive or wash-down areas. On a plain black iron utility line, the carbon steel MegaPress version is the usual choice. Material compatibility between fitting and pipe matters on stainless systems.
4) What does Smart Connect technology do on a MegaPress fitting?
Smart Connect is Viega's unpressed-connection feature: an intentional leak path at the sealing element so an unpressed joint shows itself during pressure testing instead of staying hidden inside a wall or ceiling. On a 2 inch stainless line with a lot of joints, that is how you find the one you missed.
5) How much clearance do I need around the pipe to press the Viega 90330?
The coupling body itself measures 4.819 inches long with a 2.894 inch height and width, so plan your pocket around that plus the jaw and tool envelope. In tight ceilings or close-spaced racks, confirm the press tool jaw swing before you cut the pipe.
6) Does the Viega 90330 coupling need threading or welding?
No. It is a press fitting on both ends, so the 2 inch pipe is cut, deburred, marked and pressed with the matching press tool and jaw. No threads cut, no torch, no hot work permit.
7) Where is the Viega MegaPress 90330 made?
It is made in Germany. Buyers standardizing a facility on one press system often need country of origin for procurement or domestic-preference paperwork, and this one is German manufacture.
