Viega 91100 MegaPress coupling With stop Smart Connect technology 316 stainless steel, 1/2'' x 1/2''

The 91100 MegaPress coupling joins 1/2 inch to 1/2 inch, same size on both ends. Both ends are press connections (listed as P1 x P2), so there is no threading or welding on either side.

With stop means the coupling has an internal shoulder that limits how far the pipe can enter, so each end seats at a fixed insertion depth. That is what you want for a normal joint between two cut pipe ends. A coupling without a stop (a slip or repair coupling) lets the pipe pass through so you can slide it over an existing run and repair a section without cutting the line apart. The 91100 is the stop version, so both pipe ends must be free to insert.

The 91100 is built from 316 stainless steel, so it is the stainless line of MegaPress rather than the carbon steel (black iron) version. Match the fitting metal to the pipe metal to avoid mixing dissimilar metals in the joint.

The fitting itself measures 2.776 inches in length with a 1.264 inch height and 1.264 inch width, so plan clearance for that envelope plus the jaw of the press tool swinging around the pipe. In tight ceiling or wall cavities the tool, not the coupling, is usually what sets the minimum space.

Smart Connect is Viega's unpressed-joint detection feature: the sealing element is shaped so an unpressed connection leaks visibly during pressure testing instead of passing the test and failing later. On a run with many joints it is how an installer finds the one connection the tool never got to before the ceiling closes up.

Order it as Viega MegaPress part number 91100. It is manufactured in Germany. Each piece weighs 0.234 lbs, which is useful if you are estimating freight on a large joint count.
