Viega 95665 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the Viega MegaPress 95665 a press-to-press fitting on both ends, or does one side thread?
Both ends are press connections. The connection type is listed as P1 x P2, so you press onto pipe at each end with a MegaPress jaw, no threading and no welding on either side.
2) What pipe size does Viega 95665 MegaPress fit?
It is a 3 inch by 3 inch fitting, so both ends take 3 inch pipe. If your run is a different size you need the corresponding size in the MegaPress line, not this one.
3) What does "no stop" mean on the Viega 95665 MegaPress, and when would I want it?
No stop means there is no internal tube stop inside the body, so the fitting slides freely along the pipe. That is what you use for a repair or a tie-in where you cannot pull the pipe apart or spring it out of line: slide the fitting over the cut, position it, then press both 3 inch ends.
4) Is the Viega 95665 MegaPress stainless or carbon steel?
The body is 304 stainless steel. That matters when you are matching the fitting to the system you are pressing into and when the fitting sits in a damp mechanical room or outdoors where a plain carbon steel body would show surface rust.
5) What is Smart Connect on the Viega MegaPress 95665?
Smart Connect is Viega's unpressed-connection feature built into the fitting, so a joint that was left unpressed shows itself during pressure testing instead of passing as finished. On a 3 inch line with two press ends, that is the detail that keeps a missed press from being discovered after the ceiling is closed.
