Viega 95770 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What connections does the Viega 95770 MegaPress adapter have?
The Viega 95770 is a P x FPT adapter: one press end and one female NPT thread, both at 2-1/2 inch. So it presses onto 2-1/2 inch pipe on one side and takes a 2-1/2 inch male-threaded nipple, valve, or fitting on the other.
2) Is the Viega 95770 stainless or carbon steel, and does that matter for my piping material?
It's 304 stainless steel. That makes it the MegaPress stainless line rather than the carbon steel MegaPress used on black iron, so match it to a 304 stainless pipe system. Mixing it onto carbon steel pipe puts dissimilar metals in contact at the joint.
3) What is Smart Connect on this MegaPress adapter?
Smart Connect is Viega's unpressed-connection feature: an uncrimped fitting leaks visibly during pressure testing so it gets found before the system is charged. It's built into the 95770's press end, which is one less thing to chase on a 2-1/2 inch line in a ceiling.
