There is a fully mechanical manual override built into the valve that operates without power. The fixture stays usable until maintenance swaps the CR-P2 battery, which matters in a stadium, school, or airport restroom where an out-of-service urinal is a call-back the same day.

It flushes at 0.125 gpf (0.5 Lpf), a pint per flush. American Standard pairs that volume with a washdown flushing action and a deep sump to reduce splashing, which is how the low volume still evacuates the fixture.
