1) Is the Ultima Selectronic urinal valve a water closet valve or a urinal valve? What's the flush volume?
Urinal only, at 0.125 gpf (0.5 Lpf). That is a pint-per-flush rate and it is far too little water to clear a water closet, so don't substitute it on a toilet. For a toilet you need a closet valve in the 1.28 or 1.6 gpf range.
2) Does this touchless urinal valve need to be wired, or does it run on batteries?
No wiring, no transformer, no junction box. The PWRX battery comes installed in the valve and is rated for 10 years, so it drops into a restroom with no power at the fixture. That makes it practical for retrofitting an existing manual urinal where running low voltage to the wall isn't an option.
3) What happens if the battery dies or the water is shut off mid-day?
Two things protect you. The valve is fail-safe, meaning it closes automatically on loss of power or loss of water pressure, so you don't get a stuck-open flush flooding the floor. And there's a fully mechanical manual override that works with no power at all, so maintenance or a user can still flush the urinal until the battery is dealt with.
4) Our urinal valves keep running on after the flush. Will this one stop that?
Run-on in a piston flush valve usually traces to a clogged refill orifice. This is a piston-type valve with DynaClean, an integral wiper spring that scrubs the refill orifice on every flush specifically to prevent run-on. If you're pulling valves off the wall repeatedly for that reason, that feature is the reason to go to this one.
5) Will flush volume drift if our building water pressure is high or low?
No. Pressure compensation is built in, so the valve delivers the same 0.125 gpf whether it sits on a low-pressure branch or a high-pressure riser. That matters on a multi-story building where a top-floor and ground-floor urinal see very different static pressure but both have to meet the same flush rate.
