American Standard 7236VC.020 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Can the American Standard Evolution 7236VC tub be installed undermount, or is it drop-in only?
Both. The Evolution 72 x 36 Deep Soak is built as a drop-in tub, and American Standard also lists an undermount option for it, so you can set it into a deck and either drop the rim on top or run the deck material over the flange. The tub bottom comes pre-leveled, which saves you shimming the frame during set.
2) Does the drain come with the American Standard Evolution 7236VC bathtub?
No. The Deep Soak Max Drain is a separate order and is required for this tub, so budget the drain as a line item on the job. Plan for it before rough-in, since the deep soak overflow height is what gives the tub its water depth.
3) How many jets does the Evolution Deep Soak hydromassage tub have, and how is it controlled?
Ten jets running off a single speed pump and motor. Control is a side-mounted air switch, on/off only, so there is no variable speed setting to wire or specify. Keep the switch side accessible in your deck layout and leave an access panel for the pump.
4) Is the Evolution 7236VC a soaking tub or a whirlpool?
It is both in one shell. The Deep Soak design gives you the extra water depth of a soaker, and the VC configuration adds the ten-jet hydromassage system with its own pump. If you want the same deep soak bathing well without the pump, motor and access panel, order a non-jetted Evolution model instead.
5) What is the EverClean system on this American Standard whirlpool tub?
EverClean is American Standard's antimicrobial treatment applied to the whirlpool plumbing, aimed at the mold, mildew and bacteria that grow in the recirculating lines between uses. It matters on a rental or hospitality install where the tub sits unused for stretches and the lines stay damp.
6) What is the Evolution 7236VC tub made of, and will it hold up in a multi-family or hotel install?
Acrylic with fiberglass reinforcement. That is the standard construction for a jetted tub of this size: lighter than cast iron for an upper-floor set, and the reinforcement backs the shell so it does not flex underfoot. Surface repairs on acrylic can be polished out rather than requiring refinishing.
7) What finish does the Evolution 72 x 36 hydromassage tub come in?
White only, ordered as part number 7236VC.020. There is no second color offered on this model, so if you are matching other fixtures in a bathroom package, plan around white.
8) Does this 72-inch tub have armrests built in?
Two armrests are molded into the shell, so there is nothing to add or mount. They are part of the bathing well contour, which is worth checking against your deck opening layout if you are undermounting and trimming the rim.
