American Standard 1660130.243 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Does the American Standard Extender body spray stick out into the shower when it's not running?
No. The Extender round body spray sits retracted against the wall when the water is off and only extends once water is turned on. That keeps the shower wall clear in tight enclosures and reduces what a shoulder or elbow can catch on. Spray angle is adjustable in any direction once it is extended.
2) Does the Extender body spray come with a rough-in valve body, or do I need to buy that separately?
A rough-in kit and a plaster guard are both included with the Extender round body spray, so the rough-in can be set during framing and protected through tile and drywall work. The trim assembles as one piece at finish, with no loose parts to lose or put back together on site.
3) What finishes does the American Standard Extender round body spray come in, and can I match multiple sprays on one wall?
Four finishes: Chrome (1660130.002), Matte Black (1660130.243), Brushed Nickel (1660130.295), and Brushed Cool Sunrise (1660130.GN0). Body sprays are usually installed in pairs or banks, so order all of them under the same suffix to keep the wall consistent.
4) Is this American Standard body spray meant for hotel or apartment shower use, or residential only?
American Standard classifies the Extender round body spray as a residential luxury fitting, not a commercial-duty one. For hotel guest baths or multi-family units where the spec calls for commercial-rated shower fittings, look at a product carrying that designation instead.
5) Can I aim the Extender body spray after it's installed and tiled in?
Yes. The head pivots in any direction once extended, so the aim can be set after tile without pulling the trim. Useful when the same bank of sprays serves users of different heights.
6) How do you clean hard water buildup off the American Standard Extender body spray?
The spray face is made to shed limescale with a fingertip wipe, so no descaling soak or chemical is needed for routine maintenance. That matters in hard-water buildings where body sprays otherwise clog and spray crooked within a year.
