American Standard 9EXT-OD3052GL – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What colors does the American Standard 9EXT-OD3052G gelcoat tub extender come in?
Two colors: White (order 9EXT-OD3052GW) and Linen (order 9EXT-OD3052GL). Pick the one that matches the bathing unit it is being added to, since a gelcoat surface color cannot be changed on site.
2) What is a tub extender used for on a walk-in bath installation?
An extender is a filler panel that closes the gap when the rough opening is longer than the bathing unit itself, so the wall-to-unit run finishes cleanly instead of leaving a void at one end. The American Standard 9EXT-OD3052G is the gelcoat acrylic version, ordered in White or Linen to match the tub.
3) Does the 9EXT-OD3052G extender come with the tub, or is it ordered separately?
It is a separate accessory part, not part of a tub order. The extender ships on its own in the color you specify, White (9EXT-OD3052GW) or Linen (9EXT-OD3052GL), and the bathing unit, valve and trim are all ordered independently.
4) Is the American Standard tub extender acrylic or gelcoat?
Both. The 9EXT-OD3052G extender is an acrylic panel with a gelcoat finished surface, so the exposed face cleans like the rest of a gelcoat bathing unit.
