American Standard 9EXT-OD3252GL – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What colors does the American Standard 9EXT-OD3252G tub extender come in?
Two finishes: WIB White (MPN 9EXT-OD3252GW) and WIB Linen (MPN 9EXT-OD3252GL). Order the one that matches the bathing unit already installed, since the extender is a gelcoat/acrylic piece meant to blend with the tub surround rather than contrast with it.
2) What is an American Standard tub extender used for?
It is a gelcoat acrylic filler panel that closes the gap between a bathing unit and the surrounding wall or framing when the rough opening is longer than the tub. Property managers replacing a tub in an existing alcove use one when the new unit does not span the old opening. It is a finish accessory, not a structural or plumbing component.
3) Is the 9EXT-OD3252G tub extender a complete tub or just an add-on piece?
Just the add-on. The 9EXT-OD3252G is an extender panel only, sold as a bath accessory. No tub, drain, or faucet is included, and it is ordered alongside the bathing unit it is being fitted to.
4) How do I make sure I order the right American Standard tub extender for my bathing unit?
Match the part number to the unit series. The two orderable versions are 9EXT-OD3252GW in white and 9EXT-OD3252GL in linen, both gelcoat acrylic. Confirm your bathing unit's model and finish name first, because the extender has to line up with the tub's flange and color for the joint to read clean once it is caulked.
