American Standard M964772-2430A – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will this American Standard lift knob and rod fit any brand of faucet?
No. M964772-2430A is an American Standard service part sized for American Standard faucet bodies. Thread pitch and rod diameter on lift rods vary by manufacturer, so match it to the American Standard faucet model you're servicing rather than dropping it into a Moen, Delta, or Kohler trim.
2) My pop-up stopper won't stay up. Do I need this lift rod or a new drain?
If the knob pulls up but the stopper doesn't hold, the fault is usually in the lift rod linkage or the clevis strap under the sink rather than the drain body. The M964772 replaces the lift knob and rod at the faucet, so it fixes a bent, loose, or broken rod or a stripped knob. A stopper that seats badly or leaks past the flange is a drain assembly problem instead.
3) Does the M964772 lift knob and rod include the clevis strap and pivot rod?
It is the lift knob and rod only. The clevis strap, spring clip, pivot rod, and stopper are part of the drain assembly and are ordered separately if those are also worn.
4) I manage apartments with matte black American Standard faucets. Can I stock this to match across units?
Yes, provided the faucets are American Standard models that take the M964772 rod. Ordering the 2430A matte black version keeps replacements matching the existing trim rather than leaving a chrome rod standing up through a black deck plate.
