American Standard 8888035.243 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Can I use the American Standard 8888035 shower hose to add extra length to my existing hose?
No. American Standard specifically does not recommend the 8888035 metal hose as an extension hose. It is meant to be the single hose running from the supply elbow or diverter to the handshower, not a second hose chained onto one you already have. If you need more reach, replace the existing hose with a longer one rather than stacking two.
2) What finishes does the American Standard 8888035 metal shower hose come in?
Five: Chrome (8888035.002), Polished Nickel (8888035.013), Matte Black (8888035.243), Brushed Nickel (8888035.295), and Brushed Cool Sunrise (8888035.GN0). Property managers matching a bank of bathrooms should order by that suffix, since the finish is the only thing separating the part numbers.
3) Is the American Standard 8888035 shower hose rated for commercial or apartment use?
American Standard classifies the 8888035 metal hose as a residential product. For a single-family home, an apartment unit, or a hospitality guest bath it is the right call. For a high-traffic commercial washroom or an institutional facility, specify a hose the manufacturer lists for commercial duty instead.
4) Do I need a specific American Standard shower model to use the 8888035 hose, or does it cross the whole line?
It crosses the line. The 8888035 is a universal hose with no single family assignment, and American Standard states compatibility with all of its personal showers. That's useful for an MRO stockroom: one hose part number in the right finish covers the handshowers across a mixed property rather than stocking a hose per fixture series.
5) Does the Matte Black American Standard shower hose match the rest of a matte black shower trim?
The 8888035 hose is offered in Matte Black under part number 8888035.243, alongside Chrome, Polished Nickel, Brushed Nickel, and Brushed Cool Sunrise. Ordering the hose in the same American Standard finish designation as the handshower and valve trim is how you keep the three matching, since the finish codes are shared across the brand's trim.
