American Standard 8888053.002 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will this American Standard shower hose work with my existing handheld sprayer, or is it only for American Standard showers?
The 8888053 metal hose is stated as compatible with all personal showers, so it is not restricted to one American Standard model. It is a supply hose for shower and tub applications, replacing a worn or leaking handheld hose.
2) What finish does the American Standard 8888053 shower hose come in?
Chrome, and that is the only finish offered, under part number 8888053.002. If the rest of the trim in the unit is chrome, it will match; for a brushed nickel or matte black shower set you would need a hose in that finish instead.
3) Is this a metal shower hose or a plastic one?
Metal. The American Standard 8888053 is a metal hose, which is what property managers usually want in rental and hospitality units where a vinyl hose gets kinked or cut and comes back as a callback.
4) I manage apartments and keep replacing handheld shower hoses. Can I standardize on this one across units?
That is exactly the case for it. One part number, 8888053.002 in chrome, at a single 79 inch length, stated to fit all personal showers, so you can stock one hose for mixed handheld sprayers across the property rather than matching a hose to each brand of shower.
5) Does the American Standard 8888053 hose include the handheld sprayer or a wall bracket?
No. It is the hose only, catalogued as a supply hose for shower and tub use. The handheld sprayer head, slide bar, wall elbow or hook are separate items, so order those alongside it if you are building up a complete personal shower rather than just replacing a failed hose.
