American Standard M953668-0020A – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What exactly comes with the American Standard M953668 handspray, or do I need to buy the hose separately?
The M953668 New Traditional repair part is sold as a handspray with its hose together, so you're not sourcing the hose on its own. It's a kitchen faucet side spray assembly, meant to drop onto an existing faucet that already has a spray port and diverter.
2) I have an American Standard kitchen faucet with a dead side sprayer. Is this the right replacement part?
If the faucet is an American Standard New Traditional kitchen faucet with a side spray, yes, this is the matching handspray and hose replacement. It's a faucet accessory, not a complete faucet, so the existing faucet body, diverter, and spray hole in the deck all stay in place.
3) Will this handspray work as a pull-down kitchen faucet spray head replacement?
No. This is a deck-mounted side spray with its own hose, the kind that sits in a separate hole beside the faucet and is fed by a diverter. A pull-down or pull-out faucet uses a wand that docks into the spout itself, and that takes the spray head made for that specific spout, not this side spray assembly.
4) Which finishes does the American Standard M953668 kitchen side spray come in?
Two orderable finishes: chrome (M953668-0020A) and brushed nickel (M953668-2950A). Pick the suffix that matches the faucet body you're repairing, since a side spray sitting next to a mismatched deck plate is the one thing a tenant notices immediately.
5) How hard is this side spray to swap out for a property maintenance tech?
It's a straightforward swap. The handspray and hose come as one assembly, so the job is disconnecting the old hose at the faucet's spray outlet under the sink, pulling it up through the deck hole, and feeding the new one back through. American Standard lists it as easy to install and no faucet body work is involved.
6) Does the M953668 handspray come in polished brass?
Only chrome and brushed nickel are orderable finishes for the M953668 handspray. If your faucet deck is polished brass, the chrome or brushed nickel spray head will read as a mismatch, so plan on a finish change at the whole faucet or accept the contrast.
