American Standard M953670-0170A – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Which American Standard faucet does the M953670 handspray and hose kit fit?
The M953670 handspray and hose kit is made for American Standard Hamilton 4040S kitchen faucets. It is a replacement side spray head with its hose, so it goes on a Hamilton 4040S that already has the spray port. If your faucet is a different American Standard series, this is not the matching spray assembly.
2) Does the M953670 spray kit come with the hose, or do I have to buy that separately?
Hose is included. It ships as a handspray and hose assembly, so you replace the spray head and the supply hose together as one unit rather than sourcing the hose on its own.
3) Can I use the M953670 handspray as a handheld shower sprayer?
No. Despite being catalogued for shower and tub use, the M953670 is the side spray and hose for the American Standard Hamilton 4040S kitchen faucet. It is not a handheld shower head, has no shower arm mount or slide bar bracket, and will not thread onto a shower supply. For a bathroom, buy a handshower kit with its own wall bracket and shower-arm connection.
4) Is the American Standard handspray body plastic or metal?
Brass construction. For a property manager replacing spray heads across a building of units, that matters more than the finish does, since the plastic spray heads are what tend to crack at the hose connection under daily use.
5) What is the 0170A version of the American Standard handspray, and should I order it?
M953670-0170A is the no-finish variant of the handspray and hose. Order it only if you specifically want the unfinished part. For a normal kitchen faucet repair where the spray needs to match the faucet, take the chrome (0020A) or the stainless (0750A) instead.
6) I need to order the exact American Standard side spray part number for a Hamilton faucet repair. What do I quote?
Base part is American Standard M953670, and the full manufacturer number carries the finish suffix: M953670-0020A for chrome, M953670-0750A for stainless steel, M953670-0170A unfinished. Quote the full suffixed number, since the bare M953670 will not tell a supplier which finish you want.
