American Standard A911836-0070A – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What does the American Standard A911836 seal washer do on a toilet?
It's the seal washer used in American Standard toilet repairs, ordered as part number A911836-0070A. A seal washer sits at a joint to keep water from weeping past it, so it's the piece you replace when a connection on the fixture is seeping rather than the tank or bowl itself being at fault.
2) I manage apartments with a mix of toilet brands. Can I stock this one washer for all of them?
No. The A911836 is an American Standard service part, and seal washers are sized to the specific fixture connection they seat in. If your buildings run Kohler, Gerber or Toto alongside American Standard, you need each maker's own seal for those units. Stock this one against the American Standard toilets and keep it identified by the American Standard part number so a tech doesn't grab it for the wrong fixture.
3) Is the American Standard seal washer sold in a finish, or does it matter for a concealed part?
It ships with no finish. That's normal for a sealing component: the washer is captive inside the fixture connection and never shows, so there's no chrome or brushed option to match to the rest of the bathroom. Nothing to specify on the order beyond the part number, A911836-0070A.
