American Standard Serin Touchless Faucet, Battery-Powered, 0.5 gpm/1.9 Lpm - AMS-2064155

The Serin touchless faucet has a single inlet, so it takes either cold water or tempered water from an upstream source. There is no hot/cold mixing at the faucet and no temperature handle. If the opening needs warm water, you have to feed it from a thermostatic mixing valve or a tempering valve ahead of the faucet.

The Serin is a single-hole faucet out of the box. American Standard offers an optional deck plate that covers 4-inch (102 mm) or 8-inch (203 mm) centers, so it can be mounted on a three-hole deck, but that plate is a separate item and is not part of the faucet.

It runs 0.5 gpm / 1.9 Lpm through a pressure-compensating multi-laminar spray, so the outlet flow stays consistent as supply pressure varies across a building. The aerator is vandal-resistant as well.

The sensor sits in the spout tip rather than in a separate housing on the deck, which is why it is used in high-traffic and public applications: there is no exposed eye to pry at, and the brass spout itself is vandal-resistant. The sensor is self-adjusting and sets its own range, so there is no manual range calibration during commissioning.

A safety timer shuts the water off automatically after 55 seconds of continuous run. That protects against a flood if debris, a towel, or a bucket parks in front of the spout tip sensor, which is the usual failure mode in public and institutional restrooms.

For a retrofit, battery is usually the easier call. The Serin carries its own CR-P2 lithium cell rated four years, so there is no electrician, no junction box, and no transformer under each sink. The trade-off is that maintenance staff have a battery to change on a cycle across the whole fleet. Hardwired makes more sense on new construction where the power is already in the wall and you want to eliminate battery replacement entirely.
