American Standard 9038374.013 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Does the American Standard Spectra Touch 7-inch showerhead meet WaterSense and California CEC requirements?
Yes. The Spectra Touch fixed showerhead flows at 1.8 gpm (6.8 L/min) and is listed as WaterSense and CEC compliant, which is what matters if you are specifying showerheads for California or for a water-conservation retrofit across a property.
2) How do you change spray patterns on the Spectra Touch showerhead?
You touch the face of the showerhead itself, not a twist collar or diverter. Each touch cycles between four patterns: Drench for full body coverage, Sensitive for a fine soft spray, Jet for a targeted stream, and Massage for a pulsating spray. For multifamily or hospitality, that means no small rotating parts for guests to break or over-torque.
3) Will hard water clog this showerhead, and how hard is it to clean?
The Spectra Touch uses Easy Clean spray nozzles, flexible tips you wipe down to clear mineral buildup rather than soaking or disassembling the head. On a hard-water property that is the difference between a five-minute wipe and a service call.
4) Is a 1.8 gpm showerhead enough water pressure for a full-coverage shower?
The Spectra Touch is built around that constraint: at 1.8 gpm the Drench pattern spreads the flow over a 7-inch face for full body coverage, while Jet concentrates the same flow into a targeted spray if a tenant wants more perceived force. If your spec allows the older 2.5 gpm standard you would be giving up WaterSense and CEC compliance to get it.
5) Is this a wall-mount fixed showerhead or a handheld?
The Spectra Touch 7-inch is a fixed showerhead, mounting to an existing shower arm. There is no hose or cradle, so if the job calls for a handheld on a slide bar or an ADA-oriented hand shower, this is not the part.
