American Standard 7353224.243 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What finishes does the American Standard Townsend double towel bar come in?
Five: Chrome (7353224.002), Polished Nickel (7353224.013), Matte Black (7353224.243), Brushed Nickel (7353224.295) and Brushed Cool Sunrise (7353224.GN0). Order by the suffix, since the base number 7353224 is the same across all of them. If you are matching other Townsend trim in a bathroom, match the suffix rather than the finish name to be safe.
2) Is the Townsend 24-inch double towel bar metal or plastic?
Metal throughout. American Standard builds the Townsend towel bar from metal construction rather than plastic or resin, and the assembly weighs 2.69 pounds, which is consistent with a solid metal bar and posts rather than a hollow trim shell.
3) Is this towel bar suitable for a hotel or apartment common bathroom, or is it a residential product?
American Standard classes the Townsend double towel bar as a residential washroom accessory in its luxury line. It is a reasonable fit for apartment units and condos, where residential-grade decorative trim is the norm. For high-abuse public restrooms, spec a commercial washroom accessory line instead of a residential decorative bar.
4) What is the difference between a double towel bar and a single bar for a guest bath?
A double bar carries two hanging levels off the same pair of wall posts, so one set of anchors holds two bath towels or a towel plus a hand towel. That is why the Townsend double bar projects 6.929 inches off the wall, deeper than a single bar. Choose the double when you only have one run of free wall in a shared or guest bath; choose a single bar where projection into a walkway or shower door swing is tight.
5) Will this match the rest of my American Standard Townsend bathroom suite?
Yes, it is part of the Townsend family, so it is the towel bar designed to sit alongside Townsend faucets and the rest of the Townsend bath accessories. Match the finish code as well as the family, for example .002 Chrome or .295 Brushed Nickel, so the trim reads the same across the room.
6) I need to order a replacement towel bar that matches an existing Townsend one. What number do I give my supplier?
Give the base part number 7353224 plus the finish suffix. The full manufacturer numbers are 7353224.002, 7353224.013, 7353224.243, 7353224.295 and 7353224.GN0. If the old bar is still on the wall, the suffix stamped or listed on the original order is the only way to guarantee an exact finish match, since brushed nickel and brushed cool sunrise read similarly in photos.
