American Standard 7353190.243 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What finishes does the American Standard Townsend towel ring come in?
Six finishes: Chrome (7353190.002), Polished Nickel (7353190.013), Matte Black (7353190.243), Legacy Bronze (7353190.278), Brushed Nickel (7353190.295), and Brushed Cool Sunrise (7353190.GN0). The suffix after the dot is the finish code, so if you are matching towel bars, robe hooks or faucets already installed in the bath, order the same suffix across the set.
2) Will this towel ring match the rest of my Townsend bath suite?
It belongs to American Standard's Townsend family, so it is styled to go with the other Townsend bath accessories and fittings. Matching is by finish code, not just by finish name, so pull the suffix off the faucet or towel bar you already have (for example .295 for Brushed Nickel) and order the ring with the same code.
3) Is the Townsend towel ring metal or plastic?
Metal throughout. At 1.323 lb it has real mass behind it rather than a plated plastic shell, which matters when a guest pulls down on a wet towel and the post takes the load. Because of that weight, anchor into a stud or use a solid drywall anchor rather than relying on a bare toggle in a hollow cavity.
4) Is this towel ring rated for a commercial restroom or a hotel guest bath?
American Standard classes the Townsend towel ring as a residential washroom accessory in its luxury line. For a hotel guest bath or a high-end multi-family unit it suits the application; for a public or high-abuse commercial restroom, a heavy-duty institutional accessory with concealed theft-resistant mounting is the better call.
5) Is Brushed Cool Sunrise the same as brushed gold on the Townsend towel ring?
Brushed Cool Sunrise is American Standard's own warm brushed finish, ordered as 7353190.GN0. It is a distinct finish from Brushed Nickel (.295) and Polished Nickel (.013), so do not substitute one for another when you are matching an existing set. If the existing trim is unmarked, pull the code off the back of a piece rather than judging by eye.
