1) What is the rough-in dimension on the Ultima manual clinic sink flush valve, and can it be shortened?
24 inches (610 mm) rough-in. The pipe can be cut during installation, so you can bring it down to suit the fixture height on the job without ordering a special length.
2) Is 6.5 gallons per flush right for a clinic service sink, or is that too much water?
6.5 gpf (24.6 Lpf) is the clinic sink flush volume, not a water closet volume. Clinic service sinks need the higher volume to clear solids and rinse the bowl. Don't substitute a 1.6 gpf or 1.28 gpf closet valve onto a clinic sink, and don't put this valve on a standard water closet.
3) Does this clinic sink flush valve have to be ordered left-hand or right-hand?
No handing to specify. The Ultima 6147117 can be installed left- or right-handed, so one part number covers either side of the fixture. That matters if you're standardizing a facility where the supply comes in on different sides from room to room.
