It ships as a complete system: the vitreous china washdown urinal, a manual piston-operated flush valve, and wall hangers. You are not buying the fixture and the valve as two line items. What you still supply is the rough-in piping and the 2 inch outlet connection to the drain.

It flushes at 0.5 gpf (1.9 Lpf), which is the half-gallon low-consumption rate rather than the older 1.0 gpf standard. That flush rate is what most water-conservation specs and green building point schedules call for on a flushing urinal.

The 6590501 comes with a manual piston valve with a non-hold-open handle, so it shuts off automatically even if someone leans on it. Manual means no batteries, no transformer, and no sensor to fail, which is why facilities crews often standardize on it. Go sensor-operated instead only if hands-free operation is a requirement for your facility; that is a different valve and a different order.

That is exactly what the DynaClean feature on this valve targets. An integral wiper spring scrubs the refill orifice on every flush, so debris and scale do not build up in the orifice and hold the valve open. Run-on from a fouled refill orifice is the most common cause of a urinal that never stops trickling.

It is a wall-hung washdown urinal, and wall hangers are included in the box. Washdown means the flush water sheets down the bowl surface rather than being driven through a jet, which suits the 0.5 gpf flush rate. For carrier-mounted or floor-mounted applications you need a different fixture type.

The china has an extended side, which gives some shielding between adjacent fixtures without a separate screen. In a multi-fixture commercial restroom you may still want partitions depending on your local code and layout, but the extended side means side-by-side installation is less exposed than a standard-depth bowl.
