Bobrick 35016 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Which sharps container fits inside the Bobrick B-35016?
It holds the BD brand sharps collector, 5.4 quart, part number 305443. The unit is the cabinet and door assembly, so the collector itself is the consumable you restock separately.
2) Can a Bobrick B-35016 be surface mounted on a block or tile wall?
No. The B-35016 is a recessed unit only, built to drop into a 12 x 17-3/8 inch wall opening with 5 inches minimum depth behind it. On solid masonry or a shallow wall where you cannot cut that cavity, you need a surface mounted sharps cabinet instead.
3) Is the sharps cabinet lockable so patients can't get into it?
Yes. The door is secured with a tumbler lock, and the removable needle disposal comes out once it's unlocked. The door carries a full-length stainless steel piano hinge at the bottom and swings down, so staff replace the container from the front without pulling the cabinet.
4) How much wall depth does a recessed sharps disposal need behind the drywall?
For the B-35016, 5 inches minimum clear depth. A standard 2x4 stud wall gives roughly 3-1/2 inches of cavity, so it will not take this unit without a furred or 2x6 wall. Plan the chase at framing stage, because the unit projects 5-1/8 inches overall front to back.
5) What material and finish is the Bobrick B-35016 sharps cabinet?
Stainless steel with a satin finish, which is what it ships in, and it's the only finish offered. Satin stainless holds up to repeated disinfectant wipe-down in exam rooms and public restrooms and matches the rest of a typical Bobrick washroom accessory set.
