Bobrick 38032 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Can the B-38032 be installed in a 4 inch wall?
Yes. The unit ships with a skirt sized for 4 inch (100mm) walls, and the door has a 90 degree return that conceals the flange. Required rough opening depth is 3-3/4 inches minimum, so a nominal 2x4 stud cavity takes it.
2) How many paper towels does the Bobrick B-38032 hold, and which fold does it take?
Capacity runs 600 C-fold, 800 multifold, or 1100 single-fold towels. Built-in TowelMate keeps the stack feeding one at a time instead of the grab-a-handful problem that drives consumption up. For a high-traffic restroom the multifold count is usually the honest planning number, since that is the fold most commercial janitorial contracts buy.
3) How big is the waste container in the B-38032 and does it come out for emptying?
6.3 gallons (24 L), in a removable, leak-proof container. The bin is uncovered, so housekeeping empties it without lifting a lid or fighting a swinging flap. Flush locks on the door mean the cabinet stays secured between service rounds.
4) What finishes does the Bobrick B-38032 come in?
Two: satin-finish stainless steel and matte black. Satin stainless is the standard commercial washroom look and hides fingerprints better than a mirror finish; matte black is the one to specify when the rest of the fixture package is dark. Both are the same cabinet, so the rough opening and capacities do not change with the finish.
5) Should I use a semi-recessed towel dispenser and waste unit or a surface mounted one?
Go semi-recessed like the B-38032 when the wall can give you a 3-3/4 inch deep cavity and you want the combination unit out of the traffic path, but the wall is not deep enough for a fully recessed cabinet. It needs a framed opening 11-1/2 by 53-5/8 inches, so it is a decision made at rough-in, not a retrofit you make later. If the wall is solid masonry, tile over concrete, or already finished, a surface mounted combination unit is the one that installs without cutting the wall open.
6) Is the Bobrick B-38032 durable enough for a high-traffic public restroom?
The cabinet is stainless steel with a satin finish, which is the standard specification for public and institutional washrooms because it takes abuse and cleans up without staining. The door locks flush, so there is no protruding key or latch to catch a shoulder, and the waste liner is leak-proof so wet towels do not soak the cabinet bottom.
7) Does the Bobrick B-38032 need power or batteries?
No. It is a manual dispenser, so there is no rough-in for power, no transformer, and no battery service call. That matters for the electrician's scope on new construction and for facilities that do not want another battery on the PM schedule.
