The TOTO® ECOPOWER® 0.35 GPM Controller for Bathroom Faucet Spout is designed for use with TOTO 0.35 GPM ECOPOWER spouts. The ECOPOWER faucet is ideal for high-traffic commercial spaces and provides an elegant water conservation solution. Powered by the force of running water, ECOPOWER hydro-turbines create an electrical current that is stored in rechargeable cells to power the Smart Sensor System of the faucet. The ECOPOWER faucet is highly efficient, replenishing power stores in as little as five uses daily. No external power source or battery replacement is necessary. The sensor is located at the tip of the spout to more accurately sense the hands of the user for touchless use. The on-demand system means that water flows only when needed and cannot be accidentally left running. When hands are present, the water will flow. When hands are removed, the water stops. 1) Does the TOTO TELC103-D20E controller include the faucet spout, or do I have to order that separately?
The TELC103-D20E ships as the controller plus mounting hardware only. The ECOPOWER 0.35 GPM spout is a separate order, and so is the water supply line for the G 1/2 connection. If the water reaching the faucet is not already tempered, you also need a mixing valve, which is not included. No drain is included either.
2) Will the TELC103-D20E controller work with any TOTO ECOPOWER spout?
It is matched to TOTO 0.35 GPM ECOPOWER spouts. The controller meters the 0.35 GPM flow rate, so pairing it with a spout of a different rated flow is not a combination the product data supports. Confirm the spout you are ordering is the 0.35 GPM ECOPOWER version.
3) Do I need to run power or an electrical outlet under the lavatory for this TOTO ECOPOWER controller?
No wiring and no outlet. ECOPOWER runs on a hydro-turbine that generates current from the water passing through it and stores it in a rechargeable lithium ion cell, which comes with the controller. As little as five uses a day keeps it charged, so there is no battery replacement program to budget for across a restroom full of fixtures.
4) Is this TOTO ECOPOWER faucet controller ADA compliant and does it meet California water efficiency rules?
ADA compliant, and listed as meeting both CALGreen and CEC requirements. The 0.35 GPM flow rate is what gets it there, which also makes it a usable standard for public restrooms in jurisdictions following California efficiency limits.
5) Can I get tempered water out of an ECOPOWER 0.35 GPM faucet, or is it cold only?
The controller itself does not mix. If your supply is not already pre-mixed, you add a mixing valve, ordered separately, upstream of the controller. Buildings with a central tempered water loop can feed the controller directly and skip it.
6) Where does the TELC103-D20E controller mount, and how much room do I need under the sink?
It is an under-deck mount controller, so it sits in the cabinet or chase below the lavatory deck while the spout itself is a single-hole deck mount. Mounting hardware is in the box. Plan the rough-in so the supply line reaching the controller terminates in a G 1/2 connection.
7) How long does the water run each time someone puts their hands under an ECOPOWER sensor faucet?
Flow is on-demand with a 20 second limit: water runs while hands are in front of the sensor and stops when they leave, and it cannot be left running by accident. The sensor sits at the tip of the spout rather than on the body, which is why response is immediate and why it reads hands rather than the basin. For high-traffic restrooms that is the main reason to choose on-demand over a metered push valve.
8) What is the TOTO TELC103-D20E made of, and will it hold up in a commercial restroom?
