TOTO TL220DD#CP – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What do I still need to buy to install a TOTO Vivian TL220DD faucet?
Water supply hoses are the one thing not in the box. The Vivian ships with the spout, handles, hot and cold valves, the valve-to-spout hoses, and a metal pop-up drain with rod, so the drain is already covered. Supply connections are 1/2 NPSM, so size your risers or supply lines to that thread.
2) Is the TOTO Vivian widespread faucet ADA compliant and WaterSense certified?
Both. The Vivian widespread lavatory faucet is WaterSense certified and ADA compliant. For an ADA opening the lever handle version is the one to specify, since it operates without tight grasping or twisting; cross handles are also offered on the same body. Flow is 1.5 GPM aerated on the TL220DD and TL220DD1, and 1.2 GPM on the TL220DD12 and TL220DD112.
3) What is the difference between TOTO TL220DD, TL220DD1, TL220DD12 and TL220DD112?
Same Vivian widespread body, four combinations of handle and flow. TL220DD is cross handle at 1.5 GPM, TL220DD1 is lever handle at 1.5 GPM, TL220DD12 is cross handle at 1.2 GPM, and TL220DD112 is lever handle at 1.2 GPM. Each comes in brushed nickel (#BN) or polished chrome (#CP), which gives eight orderable part numbers. Pick the 1.2 GPM models where a local water efficiency requirement calls for it.
4) How much sink clearance does the TOTO Vivian faucet need, and will it clear a vessel bowl?
The Vivian is a low-profile spout: 1.63 inch spout height with a 5.19 inch reach. That is sized for a drop-in or undermount lavatory basin, not a vessel bowl sitting on top of the deck, where the water would land at rim level. For vessel sinks, look at a tall single-hole vessel faucet instead.
5) Can I standardize the TOTO Vivian across a whole building of bathrooms?
It is a reasonable fleet standard. The body is brass with quarter-turn ceramic disk cartridges, the drain is included so you are not sourcing one per unit, and the 6 to 12 inch spread range means one part number covers sinks drilled at different centers. Two finishes, brushed nickel and polished chrome, cover most existing accessory sets. Where you have a mix of ADA and standard units, the lever and cross handle versions share the same body and finish so the openings still match.
6) Should I use a widespread or a centerset faucet for a three-hole bathroom sink?
It depends on what your holes measure center to center. Widespread, like the Vivian TL220DD, uses three separate pieces linked by hoses and covers anything from 6 to 12 inch centers. Centerset faucets are a single one-piece unit fixed at 4 inch centers, so they will not span a deck drilled at 8. If your sink is drilled at 4 inch centers, a widespread is the wrong choice and you want a centerset or a single-hole faucet.
7) Will the pop-up drain that comes with the TOTO Vivian work with my sink?
A metal pop-up drain and lift rod ship with the faucet, and the rod runs through the spout body, so the sink needs to be drilled for a pop-up. If your basin has no overflow or you are using a grid or push-button drain, plan on setting the included pop-up aside and ordering a drain to match the basin.
8) Does the TOTO Vivian faucet need batteries or power?
No power and no batteries. The Vivian TL220DD is a manual two-handle faucet with quarter-turn ceramic disk valves, so there is no solenoid, sensor, or transformer to rough in. Nothing electrical is needed at the vanity.
