TOTO THP5549 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is the TOTO THP5549 and what does it do?
THP5549 is a TOTO faucet aerator rated at 1.2 GPM. It threads into the spout outlet of a TOTO lavatory faucet and sets the flow rate and spray pattern of the water leaving the spout. It is a faucet-application part, not a complete spout or cartridge.
2) My TOTO lavatory faucet is running too strong. Will swapping in the 1.2 GPM aerator cut the flow?
Yes, if your current aerator is a higher-flow unit. The THP5549 is rated 1.2 GPM, so dropping it in place of a 1.5 or 2.2 GPM aerator reduces the delivered flow at the spout without touching the valve or supply. It is the cheapest way to bring a lavatory faucet down to a low-flow rate.
3) I manage a building with multiple TOTO lavatory faucets. Can I standardize on the THP5549 aerator?
For TOTO faucets that take this aerator, yes, ordering the single part number THP5549 across the building gives every sink the same 1.2 GPM flow and keeps one spare on the shelf instead of several. Confirm the aerator currently in your spouts is the THP5549 before you buy in quantity, since TOTO uses different aerator parts across its faucet lines.
4) Is the TOTO THP5549 a repair part or a whole faucet?
It is a replacement part only, the aerator that screws into the end of the spout. It does not include the spout, the cartridge, the handles, or any supply hardware. If the leak is at the base or the handle rather than at the outlet, the aerator is not the part you need.
5) Does the THP5549 come in different finishes?
It ships as one configuration under the single part number THP5549. There is no finish choice to specify when ordering, so there is nothing to match to a polished chrome or brushed nickel trim decision.
