TOTO THP5071 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will the THP5071 aerator change my faucet's flow rate?
It will if the faucet is currently running something other than 1.2 GPM. The THP5071 aerator is a 1.2 GPM part, so installing it sets the spout to that flow. For a property manager standardizing washroom flow across a building, that is the number to check against what the other lavatories are running before you swap one out.
2) Can I use the THP5071 aerator on a non-TOTO faucet?
Treat it as a TOTO part. THP5071 is TOTO's own replacement aerator and gasket, and aerator threads vary by manufacturer and by spout style (male versus female, standard versus junior versus tom thumb sizes). Match it to the TOTO faucet model it was specified for rather than assuming it threads into another brand's spout.
3) What is the TOTO THP5071 replacement part?
THP5071 is a TOTO replacement aerator with its gasket, rated at 1.2 GPM. It is the flow-control screen assembly that threads into the spout tip of a TOTO faucet, sold as the aerator plus the sealing gasket so you are not reusing a flattened old one.
4) Does the TOTO THP5071 come with a new gasket or just the aerator?
Both. The THP5071 ships as the aerator and the gasket together, so the seal at the spout tip gets replaced at the same time. That matters on a drip complaint where the leak is at the spout tip rather than the cartridge, since a hardened gasket is often the whole fault.
5) Do I need to shut off the water to replace a TOTO aerator?
No. The aerator threads into the spout tip downstream of the valve, so a 1.2 GPM THP5071 swaps out with the supply left on. Unthread the old one (a cloth around the jaws keeps a wrench from marking the finish), pull the old gasket, drop in the new gasket and aerator, and hand-tighten. It is a per-fixture job an on-site maintenance tech can run through a floor of restrooms in an afternoon.
6) How many TOTO THP5071 aerators do I get per order?
THP5071 is a single-part number with one configuration, so it is ordered per aerator kit rather than in a fixed multi-pack. For an MRO shelf stocking a building of TOTO lavatories, order by the count of fixtures you intend to service.
