TOTO ABF626N#01DBN – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Does my bathroom floor need reinforcement for the TOTO Aimes freestanding tub?
The floor under the Aimes tub has to support a minimum of 75 lbs per square foot. The tub itself weighs 395 lbs empty and holds 88 gallons, so a filled tub plus a bather is a real load on a wood-framed second floor. On a slab it is a non-issue; over a joisted floor, have the framing checked against that 75 lbs/sq ft figure before setting it.
2) Does the TOTO Aimes ABF626N come with a faucet, or do I need to order one separately?
No faucet is included. The Aimes tub ships with the tub, overflow, drain assembly and two rest pillows only. You have to buy a freestanding tub filler separately, and TOTO calls out its own TB100DF and TB100SF fillers as the matching options. Budget for the filler and its floor rough-in when you price the job.
3) How deep is the water in the TOTO Aimes soaking tub?
Water depth is 15.3 inches to the overflow, in a bathing well that is 19 inches deep overall. That is a genuine soaker depth, shoulder coverage for most adults sitting back. The well itself runs 44.63 inches long by 29.5 inches wide, so there is real room to stretch out against the pillows at either end.
4) What is the TOTO Aimes freestanding tub made of, and is it heavy enough to need extra help setting it?
Cast acrylic. At 395 lbs bare, the Aimes is far heavier than a typical thin-wall acrylic tub and is a two- or three-person set, ideally staged after the floor finish is in. Cast acrylic holds heat well and takes a polish, and the surface is slip resistant for safer entry and exit.
5) What drain trim finishes does the TOTO Aimes ABF626N come in?
Three drain trim finishes, all on the Cotton White tub: brushed nickel (ABF626N#01DBN), polished chrome (ABF626N#01DCP) and polished nickel (ABF626N#01DPN). The tub body is Cotton White in every case, so the finish decision is purely the drain and overflow trim. Pick the one that matches the filler and the rest of the Aimes collection fittings in the room.
6) Is a drain and overflow included with the Aimes tub or do I supply my own?
Both are included. The Aimes ships with a corrosion-resistant drain assembly and overflow already matched to the tub, in the trim finish you order. What you still need to supply is the trap and waste rough-in under the floor and the freestanding filler. No heater or jets, this is a plain soaking tub.
7) Will an 88 gallon tub drain my water heater?
The Aimes holds 88 gallons to the rim, and realistic fill to the 15.3 inch overflow line is less than that, but it is still a large volume against a typical 40 or 50 gallon residential heater. On a remodel where the owner wants a full hot soak, size the heater or add a recirculating/tankless source accordingly, and note the filler is sold separately so flow rate depends on which TB100DF or TB100SF you pair with it.
8) Does the Aimes tub work with a wall-mounted or deck-mounted tub filler?
It is built around a freestanding floor-mounted filler. TOTO names the TB100DF and TB100SF as the compatible fillers, and the tub has no deck ledge drilled for a rim-mounted faucet. If the design calls for a wall-mounted spout instead, that is a plumbing decision made at rough-in, and the tub itself supplies no faucet holes.
9) Is the TOTO Aimes a soaking tub or does it have jets?
Straight soaker, no jets and no heater. If a client is asking for air or whirlpool jets, the Aimes ABF626N is not the tub. What it offers instead is depth (15.3 inches of water to the overflow), 88 gallon capacity, and two rest pillows at either end.
