TOTO TCU854BCR#03 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Which Toto toilet does the TCU854BCR#03 tank lid fit?
The TCU854BCR#03 is the replacement vitreous china tank lid for the Toto CST854SB toilet. Tank lids are model-specific, so it should be ordered against that tank, not by eyeballing a similar-looking lid.
2) I manage apartments and a tenant cracked a toilet tank lid. Can I replace just the lid instead of the whole toilet?
Yes, for a Toto CST854SB you can order the TCU854BCR#03 china lid on its own and leave the tank and bowl in place. That is the normal repair for a cracked or chipped lid in multi-family and hospitality work, since the lid is not a pressure-bearing part.
3) Is TCU854BCR#03 just the lid, or does it include tank trim?
Lid only. It is the china tank lid itself, so flush valve, fill valve, trip lever and tank-to-bowl hardware are separate items if the existing ones are damaged.
4) Will the #03 code on the Toto TCU854BCR lid match my toilet's color?
The #03 suffix is Toto's color code, and it has to match the code on the tank you are fitting it to. A lid ordered in a different Toto color code will seat fine but will not match the china. Check the color code stamped inside the existing tank or on the bowl before ordering.
5) Is the Toto TCU854BCR#03 lid plastic or china?
Vitreous china, same material as the tank, which is why it matches the glaze and the weight of the original. Handle it like china on the job: it will chip on a tile floor.
6) Does installing the TCU854BCR#03 tank lid require any tools or hardware?
No fasteners involved. The china lid sets onto the tank rim by gravity, so it is a drop-on replacement with nothing to bolt, caulk or seal.
