TOTO THP4578#BN – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What exactly is the TOTO THP4578 handshower elbow adaptor, and does it include the set screw?
It's the wall elbow adaptor for a TOTO handshower, supplied as an elbow with its set screw. The set screw is what locks the elbow in place, so you're getting the fastening hardware with the part rather than sourcing it separately.
2) Is TOTO THP4578#BN the brushed nickel version of the handshower elbow?
Yes. The part number carries TOTO's #BN finish suffix, which is their brushed nickel code. If your other trim in the shower is polished chrome or another TOTO finish, you'd order the same THP4578 base number with that finish suffix instead so the elbow matches the handshower and the rest of the valve trim.
3) I'm a property manager replacing a loose shower hose elbow. Is this a repair part or a complete handshower kit?
This is a repair/replacement part only, the elbow adaptor and its set screw, not a handshower set. If the wand, hose or bracket also need replacing you'd order those separately as TOTO service parts. Ordering by the exact THP number is what keeps the finish and the connection consistent with the existing TOTO trim.
4) Will a generic hand shower elbow work instead of the TOTO THP4578?
Not reliably. THP4578 is a TOTO service part matched to TOTO handshower trim, and it relies on a set screw to retain it, so the mating diameter and screw location have to match the TOTO component it sits on. For a TOTO shower you want the TOTO part number; mixing in an aftermarket elbow also leaves you with a finish that won't match.
