TOTO THU469R-A – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the TOTO THU469R-A the non-hold or the hold-down style flush tower?
Non-hold. The THU469R-A is the non-hold version, meaning the tower releases on its own once the handle is pushed and you do not have to hold the lever down through the flush. If the toilet you are servicing uses a hold-down tower, where the user keeps the lever depressed to keep water running, that is a different part and this one will not reproduce the same flush behavior.
2) How do I make sure I order the right TOTO flush tower for my toilet?
Order by the TOTO part number, not by the toilet's looks. The number here is THU469R-A, and TOTO tower parts are model specific, so the correct one is whichever THU number TOTO lists for your toilet's model. Property managers standardizing a building are best off recording the THU number for each toilet model once and reordering against that, since two toilets that look identical on the floor can take different towers.
3) What is the TOTO THU469R-A drain valve tower and what does it do in a one-piece toilet?
The THU469R-A is a replacement flush valve tower for a TOTO one-piece toilet. The tower is the vertical assembly that sits on the flush valve in the tank; lifting it opens the flush valve and lets tank water into the bowl. It is a service part, so you are buying it to rebuild an existing TOTO one-piece toilet rather than to build a new tank from scratch.
4) Does the THU469R-A come with a new flush valve, gasket, or fill valve?
The THU469R-A is the tower alone. It is the moving tower assembly that mounts to the flush valve already in the tank, so the valve body, tank-to-bowl gasket, bolts, and fill valve are separate parts. If you are doing a full tank rebuild rather than chasing a running or weak flush, plan on ordering those alongside it.
5) My TOTO one-piece toilet runs constantly or flushes weakly. Is the flush tower the part to replace?
Often, yes. On a TOTO one-piece, a tower that no longer seals at the bottom lets water bleed from the tank to the bowl continuously, and a tower that drops too fast cuts the flush short. Replacing the tower with the THU469R-A addresses both, and it is a tank-side swap with the water off, so no rough-in or floor work is involved.
