TOTO THU492#01 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) My TOTO toilet handle is loose and won't flush - is a trip lever the part I need?
If the handle turns freely or the flush feels disconnected, the trip lever assembly is the usual culprit, and THU492#01 is TOTO's trip lever handle assembly for toilets. If instead the tank runs continuously or won't refill, the problem is in the flush valve or fill valve and a lever won't fix it.
2) Is the TOTO THU492#01 trip lever left-hand or right-hand mount?
THU492#01 is the right-side version. TOTO tanks are prepped for the lever on a specific side, so a right-hand lever will not mount in a left-hand tank hole.
3) How do I make sure I order the right TOTO tank lever for my toilet?
Order by TOTO's own part number rather than by appearance. TOTO assigns a specific trip lever to each tank model, and THU492#01 is one of those assemblies; the suffix #01 is TOTO's finish code convention. Check the model number stamped inside the tank or behind the bowl against TOTO's parts listing for that tank before ordering.
4) For a property with several TOTO toilets, is it worth stocking spare trip levers?
Levers are one of the few toilet parts that get handled thousands of times, so they are a common failure point in high-traffic restrooms. Keeping the matching TOTO lever assembly on the shelf, such as THU492#01 for right-hand tanks, turns a work order into a few minutes of work. Just confirm the tank models in the building use the same lever part number, since TOTO varies the lever by tank.
